The European Wind Energy Association has signed a long-term agreement with Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH to host its annual conference in parallel with the WindEnergy Hamburg exhibition.
EWEA and HMC have agreed to host two more events in 2018 and 2020, in addition to the collaboration on WindEnergy Hamburg 2016 that will take place in September. EWEA will continue to host its annual and offshore events in the intervening years 2017 and 2019. The agreement also includes an option to cooperate on a fourth event in 2022.
The combination of EWEA’s leading industry conference in conjunction with the world’s top wind energy expo will create a one-stop shop for businesses, policymakers and the scientific community. The conference and exhibition will showcase the very best of the industry, highlighting the successes and addressing the challenges facing wind power today.
Giles Dickson, Chief Executive Officer of the European Wind Energy Association, said: “We are delighted to have signed a long-term agreement with HMC. We are confident that this will provide certainty and long-term visibility to our sector on the location for future events. It will also ensure that Hamburg remains a capital for the global wind industry in the years to come.”
Bernd Aufderheide, President and CEO of Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH, said: “The concentration/convergence of expertise here is unmatched anywhere in the world for the companies engaged internationally in the wind industry. It is highly attractive for both exhibitors and visitors, enabling them to attend the only global wind energy expo with its outstanding business opportunities and also the Conference with its coverage of the latest industry topics.”
EWEA is the voice of the wind industry, actively promoting wind power in Europe and worldwide. It has 600 members, active in over 50 countries, including wind turbine manufacturers with a leading share of the world wind power market, plus component suppliers, research institutes, national wind and renewables associations, developers, contractors, electricity providers, finance and insurance companies, and consultants. This combined strength makes EWEA the world’s largest and most powerful wind energy network.
WindEnergy Hamburg will be held at the Hamburg Fair site from 27 to 30 September 2016. This leading international expo for onshore and offshore wind reflects the global market and the whole of the value chain.
